Chessington World of Adventures has just launched a brand new Gruffalo themed ride, and there are corresponding workshops available for Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils.
The ride, called The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure, has recently opened at Chessington World of Adventures and is said to be the world’s first Gruffalo themed ride.
The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure
The new ride is based on the popular storybook, The Gruffalo, and passengers will follow the character Mouse on a riverboat journey through the dark wood.
As you float down the river, the fictional world of The Gruffalo will unfold with exciting twists and turns along the way.
Key Stage 1 and 2 workshops
The new ride can be used as a learning resource for pupils taking part in some new workshops available at Chessington.
A Habitat workshop will see Key Stage 1 students learning about the kinds of animals you may spot on The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure, whilst exploring their habitats and how they would adapt to their environments, before meeting the theme park’s very own animals. This workshop links to the Science curriculum.
For both Key Stages 1 and 2, a Creative Characterisation workshop allows students to discover how The Gruffalo characters are brought to life on the ride, by focusing on creative characterisation techniques. This workshop ties in with the English curriculum.
And for Key Stage 2 pupils, a Classification workshop will look at different animal groups. Children will use classification keys to identify which other animals belong in the same group. The workshop links to the Science curriculum.
Schools at Chessington world of Adventures
