Script to Screen

Script to screen educational workshops have now launched in Yorkshire at The Emmerdale Studio Experience, among the first of its kind outside of London.

Held at the former ITV studios in Leeds, where selected filming still takes place, students from Key Stages 2-5 will now be able to step into the drama as they learn about and experience the television production process from script to screen.

General manager of the attraction, Nikki Jacobs said it was a “really exciting development” for the Experience, and wider region. She added: “Yorkshire has a great history of television production and we are proud to have the opportunity to help inspire the next generation in the home of the nation’s favourite soap.”

During the experience, students will be able gain an insight into filmmaking, allowing them an in-depth look at the TV production process and learn through interactive elements outside the classroom environment.

The workshops have been developed with ITV by Minds Ignited, to provide interactive learning which links entertainment to the curriculum.

The new education programme has been designed to be as teacher friendly as possible, with access to free pre and post-visit resources complete with learning objectives, outcomes, curriculum links, worksheets and activities.

The visits are tailored for Key Stages 2-5 with links to the National Curriculum and exam board specifications for English, Film and Media Studies.
