School resources run alongside Wicked the musical will allow teachers to tie in a visit to see the production at the London Apollo Victoria Theatre with the PSHE curriculum.
The resource features practical activities intended to encourage pupils to think about friendship, inspiration and dreams, whilst also teaching the importance of wellbeing.
Teachers can use the packs as a pre or post show resource, using Wicked as a model for the topics covered in the PSHE curriculum.
The packs, which are suitable for Key Stages 2-4, cover health and wellbeing, relationships, and the wider world within which topics such as ambition, friendships, bullying, prejudice, and human rights can be explored.
The interactive activities will encourage discussions and will ask students to work both individually, and as a class. Scenes from the musical will be used as a base for exploring students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural responses.
Developed by the Wicked Education team with teachers, the PSHE school resources are one of many educational packs running alongside the West End musical, others of which can be used to support studies in Drama, English, and Art and Design.
The story of Wicked
The musical, which recently celebrated its 12th birthday at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre, tells the untold story of the Witches of Oz.
The production explores the themes of friendship, trust and tolerance as it follows the lives of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. Audiences will watch on as a young Elphaba encounters challenges, prejudices and heartbreak.
