Schools can enjoy an immersive Tudor experience at one of Kentwell Hall’s dedicated days in Suffolk this summer term.
Pupils will experience a fully-immersive hands-on visit where they encounter a community living as if in Tudor times. They will see people going about their daily business dressed, talking and behaving as if they were actual figures from the past - a time-travel experience, at a genuine Tudor Manor.
Taking place on 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th June 2024, visiting pupils spend an engrossing three hours or more without a break in the past to help them become fully immersed in the visit.
Organisers say the event provides unrivalled enrichment for the study of all aspects of past life, from food preparation to crafts, from longbow archery to music and dance.
Suitable for KS2 - 4, primary aged pupils are also encouraged to come in costumes suitable for the time to make the experience even more believable.
About Kentwell Hall & Gardens
Kentwell is a redbrick house with two forward wings from the early 16th century, surrounded by a broad moat, built by the Clopton family with wealth realised from landowning.
Its main features are its little-altered exterior elevations and the separate 15th century, part half-timbered service building. The interior showcases the changes made by successive owners and its gardens reflect how many people may imagine an old-fashioned Country House Garden.
If schools cannot make this year’s Tudor Days, the estate hosts other historical events and workshops throughout the year, with educational discounts available and other benefits for schools.
To book, teachers can email events@kentwell.co.uk. More information is available at www.kentwell.co.uk/midsummer-schools.
