London’s Science Museum has launched a number of CPD courses for the next academic year in a bid to equip teachers with the tools to offer inspiring learning.
The free sessions will run a range of dates across the academic year from September until July 2025. All teachers can benefit from free resources to take away, as well as refreshments on the day of the course.
With three new in-person visits launched, teachers can opt for Exploring Science Through Play, STEM Engagement or Exploration and Discovery Clubs, which all provide training for taking science learning beyond the walls of the classroom.
Exploring Science Through Play is said to be ideal for KS1 teachers and shares interactive, research-informed approaches to exploring science through playful learning experiences, while STEM Engagement discusses ideas about how to create inspiring science, technology, engineering and maths for primary and secondary pupils.
Finally, Exploration and Discover Clubs is suitable for all sorts of teachers. Whether you’re a confident leader of an established club or just beginning your journey, this half-day course offers new tools and ideas to set up and run a club for pupils to keep them entertained outside of lesson times.
A number of online courses have also been launched for those teachers who are unable to attend in person.
School trips to the Science Museum
There is plenty to see and do for schools visiting the Science Museum. Your group can explore free galleries, experience a free Careers Uncovered Session, see a school show such as It Takes Guts, watch the new Ocean Odyssey film in 3D in IMAX: The Ronson Theatre, explore the gaming experience Power Up and plenty more.
Teachers must book in advance via the website - it is advised to book early to ensure that you’re able to select the type of session you want or to be able to visit certain exhibition spaces.
