Pupils selected by four Weston-super-Mare primary schools enjoyed a walk on the wild side on a trip to Longleat Safari Park in Wiltshire.
After a pandemic-enforced break for two years, the team at coach operator Bakers Dolphin was delighted to once again support Weston-super-Mare’s Rotary Club by taking 32 children and their teachers across the border to Wiltshire for a fun-filled day out to Longleat, which is one of the UK’s largest and most popular safari parks.
Every year, KidsOut, the fun and happiness charity set up by Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland, provides fun days out for thousands of youngsters around the country aged between five and 11.
Children were able to enjoy Longleat’s many attractions including its drive-through safari, Gorilla Island and Koala Creek as part of the experience.
Weston-super-Mare Rotary Club member, Clive Morris said: “These days are always a delight to be part of as they bring such joy to the children.
“It’s been so disappointing that, because of the pandemic, we’ve been unable to go to Longleat for the past two years, but that made this trip even more special.
“Once again, we’re very grateful to Bakers Dolphin for helping to make the day such a success, getting us all to and from Longleat in safety and style.”
Amanda Harrington, Bakers Dolphin sales and marketing director, added: “Our drivers always enjoy seeing delight on the faces of the children, and it’s very rewarding for them to know they’ve been part of a memorable day.
“It’s so nice to be able to return to Longleat again, and yet another sign that we are all truly on the post-pandemic road to recovery.”
The education team at Longleat offers self-guided visits, along with specialist workshops which are suitable for Key Stages 1-5, including Habitats and Adaptations to introduce children to various characteristics of different animals, or Marvellous Mini-Beasts which brings classes closer to the true giants of the animal kingdom.
Longleat also offers a large coach park, spacious areas for picnics and familiarisation trips for teachers.
