Iceland

Tour operator, Rayburn Tours, is introducing new school trips to Iceland in order to give more pupils the chance of exploring the world outside the classroom.

Schools can pick from three Icelandic tour packages that cater for different needs, learning objectives and subjects.

What packages can schools book?

The first of the packages is the Essential Iceland trip which is a four day excursion combining visits to the country’s most spectacular geographical sites. This will include the Golden Circle tour’s spurting geysers, the Sólheimajökull glacier and the black sand and basalt column cliffs at Reynisfjara.

The itinerary for this trip encompasses thundering waterfalls, ancient volcanoes and geo-thermal lagoons, allowing Iceland’s marvels to be admired from every angle.

The next trip school groups can book is the Set Departure Iceland package which is better suited for smaller groups of pupils. This is also a four day trip and will investigate the power of water along the South Coast and will visit the Eyjafjallajöll Visitor Centre and the less known Secret Lagoon, one of Iceland’s hot springs.

The third package is the tailor-made Iceland trip which involves the itinerary and tour experience being crafted around each individual school group’s learning requirements and needs.

Each Iceland tour has been designed to tie in with the National Curriculum.

Geography topics that the trips to Iceland can incorporate include Changing Places, Climate Change, Ecosystems and Biodiversity and Natural Hazards, among many others.
