The ‘indoor city run by kids’ will be taking part in Parliament Week on 14th , 15th and 16th November, by inviting children to partake in Parliament related activities.
KidZania has also announced that MP Nicky Morgan will be joining the educational board, think-tank, with the aim of using her experience to further the educational offering.
Parliament Week
KidZania will feature a pop-up ‘Parliament Square’, where kids can dress up in speaker’s robes, step into the shoes of their local MP and become a decision maker for the day; and vote with their voices by making decisions on the questions that matter most to them.
There will be a series of short talks and Q&A sessions with MPs, members of the House of Lords and staff from Parliament, among other fun activities to aid children’s understanding of Parliament and democracy.
A diverse range of speakers will take to the KidZania stage, providing young visitors with an opportunity to discover more about the huge array of careers within Parliament. Pupils will get to hear the Speaker of the House of Commons talk about chairing debates and keeping order in the House, and discover how the Collections team work to conserve the collection of historic furniture.
They’ll also discover how Crossbencher Peers, such Baroness D’Souza and Lord Bilimoria, ensure their individual focuses remain at the forefront of parliamentary discussion.
New appointment of Nicky Morgan
Nicky Morgan’s experience as former Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women and Equalities will be a ‘welcome addition to the board’, which brings together some of the UK’s top educators and professionals.
The team of specialists aim to support KidZania UK’s educational thinking and practice and to aid future development in educational advocacy.
Morgan joins a diverse team of experts, including former Schools Minister Lord Jim Knight, Executive Head Teacher Vanessa Langley, MumsNet Co-Founder Carrie Longton, Parenting Expert Sue Atkins and former Children’s Commissioner for England Maggie Atkinson.
