Liverpool Philharmonic is offering over 1,200 free concert tickets to secondary school pupils where they will hear classical compositions by composers from Beethoven to Bernstein.
Performed live by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, all concerts have been specifically chosen for their relevance to the music GCSE and A Level curriculum.
The initiative aims to inspire a love of live music in young people and enrich music education in schools.
Specific dates for a range of concerts run until April 2025, and are free to all local secondary schools in Liverpool.
Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra highlights
- Rachmaninov’s Symphony No.2: This concert features violinist Ning Feng performing Barber’s Violin Concerto and Nautilus - an exciting piece by the composer Anna Meredith, and the Liverpool debut of young British conductor, Adam Hickox.
- Bernstein, Barber & Glass: A programme of American composers including Leonard Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. The evening is conducted by Joseph Young and features Chloë Hanslip performing Philip Glass’ Violin Concerto No.1.
- Eroica: Beethoven’s third symphony is led by chief conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Domingo Hindoyan.
- Shostakovich Symphony No.6: Conducted by Russian-American conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya, this concert pays tribute to Shostakovich in his anniversary year, as well as music from Missy Mazzoli and Brahms Violin Concerto featuring violinist Alena Baeva.

Hearing the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra live in this iconic concert hall is an inspiring and unforgettable experience.

Schools will be able to access free tickets for a range of concerts by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, contemporary series Ensemble 10:10 and performances from the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
