New London attraction BODY WORLDS, Westminster Abbey, STA Travel and The Original Tour have signed up to back the 2018 School Travel Awards.
They are the latest partners to be announced to back the annual awards campaign, which recognises the best school trip providers and operators, as well as schools and teachers who put learning outside the classroom (LOtC) at the forefront of what they do.
The School Travel Awards initiative for 2018/19 will culminate in a five-star ceremony and lunch in London on Friday 16th November at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington hosted by TV broadcaster Fiona Bruce.
BODY WORLDS
The museum experience, which opens its flagship venue in London this October, is partnering the award for the Best Heritage Venue.
Commenting on the support, its founder, Peter Tabnernal said: “We’re delighted to be involved in this year’s School Travel Awards and can’t wait for the ceremony itself in London. It’s a brilliant initiative and perfect timing with the opening of the world-famous BODY WORLDS attraction in the city next month.
“We’re looking forward to making a significant contribution to not only London’s cultural landscape but the wider education market, welcoming school groups from across the country.”
STA Travel
Travel company STA Travel has signed up to partner the Best UK Destination or Attraction Award.
STA Travel director Ellen Rayner said: “At STA Travel we pride ourselves on offering educational school trips with a difference! Bespoke tours relating to any subject and total cultural immersion.
“The School Travel Awards are therefore an ideal fit and the perfect way to champion learning outside the classroom.”
Westminster Abbey
The landmark venue in London is partnering the award for Best Venue for Maths Learning.
Laura Arends, Head of Learning at Westminster Abbey said: “At Westminster Abbey we’re very aware of the impact school trips have on young people.
“Through an extensive schools programme, for both Primary and Secondary students we offer guided tours, workshops, self-led visits and outreach options.
“The School Travel Awards are a great way of recognising the brilliant work by providers and also highlighting the invaluable experiences being organised by teachers across the country.”
The Original Tour
Founded more than 65 years ago, The Original Tour offers open-top sightseeing red bus tours in London. It covers Key Stages 1-4 and trips can link to History, English & Drama learning.
It has signed up to partner the award for the Best Food & Learning Experience.
