The 2024 CLOtC conference was hosted at Weldon Village Academy, bringing together a range of teachers and experts.

Delegates at the one-day event will include school leaders, teachers, educational professionals, providers from across the UK and many more who are passionate about learning outside the classroom.

The programme will feature keynote speakers, and there will be practical and informative workshops led by experts covering a range of topics, plus plenty of opportunities to discuss a variety of issues.

Dr Anne Hunt, CEO of the CLOtC, said: “We’re so please to be offering this event again. LOtC is more important than ever if we want to address the challenges facing schools and young people in today’s current climate - academically, socially, environmentally and the well-being of both students and staff.

“We are really looking forward to seeing educational professionals from across the country, who are passionate about giving students high quality learning beyond the classroom opportunities, come together to share good practice, offer expert advice, reconnect or make new connections, and continue to champion and raise the profile of LOtC.”

One of the highlights of the annual event is taking part in interesting workshops that challenge and create new ideas.

A look back at the 2024 conference…

Last year’s conference was held at Weldon Village Academy near Corby in Northamptonshire, while pupils went on visits to Grafham Water Centre and the Nene Park Trust.

Broadcaster and author, Dr Radha Modgil hosted the conference speaker sessions, and opened the day with a talk on the benefits that outdoor learning can have on pupils, followed by a discussion panel of key themes and topical issues currently facing young people.

Other highlights across the day included a session with Paul Marshalsea, head of education partnerships at the Outward Bound Trust, who introduced pupils to speak about their personal journey during an Outward Bound programme, and how it helped them to develop resilience and boost confidence.
