Wild Wookey is a new physical adventure experience, suitable for school groups at Wookey Hole Caves & Attractions in Somerset.
Suitable for children aged 14 years and up, Wild Wookey is a caving adventure that can be used to support lessons in Physical Education or be added to a day trip itinerary to Wookey, where circus workshops, interactive tours and paper making, among other activities, are on offer.
Get underground
The experience is led by an instructor and takes participants through various caves in order to learn different caving techniques.
The route has been researched, planned and prepared by qualified cavers, and represents a number of challenges, both physical and psychological.
The caving course will allow school pupils to venture further into Wookey Hole Caves than ever before, tackling previously off-limits parts of the labyrinth of caves and tunnels.
It begins with participants entering the caves through a cliff-face hole before winding their way through a maze of natural cave passages and taking on a roped descent to the water's edge of the River Axe.
Other highlights include traversing raised walkways and a bridge over deep waters, climbing a series of rock faces, abseiling down to the riverbank of the River Axe and crawling through historic passageways.
