The Canterbury Tales visitor attraction in Kent has joined forces with bushcraft specialist, Black Wolf Survival, to offer school groups a new two hour wand carving workshop.
In this Harry Potter inspired session, students will learn wood carving techniques to create their very own wand to take home.
Suitable for ages 12 and up, the workshop links in with the National Curriculum for Literature, Design Technology and Art, as well as providing a chance to develop both creativity and motor skills.
The workshop is described as Medieval and magic-themed, and is combined with a tour of the Geoffrey Chaucer-dedicated attraction.
Lyndsay Ridley, general manager at The Canterbury Tales, commented: “This is a really exciting new workshop opportunity for our guests, allowing them to get really creative in designing their own wand to reflect their personality. Chaucer weaved elements of magic throughout The Canterbury Tales, particularly in the Wife of Bath and The Pardoner’s Tale.”
Prices are based on a minimum group of 15 and include The Canterbury Tales Tour. One adult with every ten children is admitted free; one supervisor must be present for every 15 children.

Black Wolf Survival are specialists in survival and bushcraft, organisational members of the Institute of Outdoor Learning and approved archery instructors teaching all over the UK.
The Canterbury Tales is dedicated to celebrating the works of poet Geoffrey Chaucer. During the 40 minute experience, through a combination of live interaction and audio guides, guests are regaled by five very different tales of love, scheming and trickery as each of Chaucer’s colourful characters competes to win the title of best story-teller.
