The ‘My Best School Trip’ Award recognises outstanding school trips that give children a rich and rewarding experience, achieve a range of objectives and help embed learning back in school and is open to teachers of Key Stages 1 to 4.
Walsall Academy in Bloxwich won the 2020/21 award for their Key Stage 4 Outward Bound Trust residential organised by shadow headteacher Jon Clarke which involved a group of Year 10 students embarking on an adventure based at the centre in Ullswater, Cumbria.
And because he took the time to enter the trip, Jon ensured the academy was recognised for the outstanding approach it has to learning outside the classroom, and demonstrated how it enhances the education and life skills of its students.
Plus, as winners, Walsall Academy collected £1,500 to spend on a future educational visit.
This award was announced as part of the School Travel Awards 2020/21 ceremony which took place in May 2021.
