The tour, which will begin in March and conclude in January 2019, will be accompanied with an education programme, it has been revealed.
The tour will launch on 5th March at Leicester Curve theatre and will visit venues including Dublin, Manchester and Cardiff.
The production will be accompanied by Change My Story, a new education programme inspired by Matilda The Musical which will engage young people in towns and cities across the UK and Ireland.
Synopsis: Matilda
Matilda The Musical follows the story of a young girl who is constantly overlooked and belittled by her cruel parents, the Wormwoods, and her terrifying headmistress Miss Trunchbull.
As she dreams for a better life, her unique abilities see her stand out and fight for what she wants and change her own destiny.
Education programme
With a travelling library of stories led by the musical’s librarian Mrs Phelps and whole school takeovers, the RSC aims to reach over 15,000 children, in collaboration with touring theatre partners.
The programme will involve workshops within the theatres involved in the tour, discovery sessions which take place before the shows and look at how the production is put together, and creative writing sessions.
More learning resources will be announced shortly.
Casting
Annalise Bradbury, Lara Cohen, Poppy Jones and Nicola Turner will share the title role of Matilda across the first five venues of the tour.
