The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOtC), will be hosting three School Roadshows for teachers to get tips and ideas on how to get their class learning outside.
The events will take place on 5th September at Briscoe Primary School, Essex; 7th October at National Justice Museum, Nottingham; and in spring 2018 (date TBC), at Neston High School, Cheshire.
The roadshows are specifically aimed at offering support and learning to those who want to embed more learning outside the classroom (LOtC) into their school’s curriculum.
LOtC aims to deliver improved outcomes for pupils’ achievement, wellbeing and personal development which can’t be replicated by classroom teaching alone.
What to expect from the roadshows
Teachers will get the opportunity to find out more about learning outside the classroom and what it can achieve for school improvement.
The roadshows will feature inspirational case studies from LOtC Mark Schools ( schools award the LOtC quality badge) sharing their experience of implementing high quality LOtC provision, as well as a series of practical workshops from national experts in LOtC, allowing delegates to find out more about specific aspects and how to embed them into the curriculum.
The workshop programme will also offer practical activities to demonstrate how to deliver learning outside the classroom, and will reflect a breadth of LOtC, including school grounds, natural environment, farming and countryside, arts and creativity, heritage and adventurous activities.
A few words from CLOtC
Chief executive Elaine Skates said: “We wanted to offer schools an opportunity to find out what learning outside the classroom is all about on their own doorstep.
“The events will showcase simple ways delegates can start to implement activities in their school and also help teachers develop their confidence at a location that is convenient to them. The roadshows will be a great opportunity for schools to take the next steps to developing their LOtC provision, whatever their starting point.”
