Corteo by Cirque du Soleil features acrobats and clowns telling the story of Mauro the clown.

World-renowned circus collective, Cirque du Soleil, has launched its latest show, Corteo, aimed at providing fun, comedy and spontaneity for pupils through the story of Mauro the clown.

Corteo will take to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall from 9th January until 2nd March 2025. Plus, for the first time the iconic venue will be divided from the organ, in a straight line, to the door 6 entrance giving the audience a new perspective of the performance.

As part of the show, a selection of guided activities and curated learning resources have been created, designed for students from KS3 to KS5, to be used before and after a performance.

The resources explore how elements of staging, scenery, costumes, music, and movement bring a story and characters to life and the resources can be adapted for use in a variety of learning environments.

About Cirque du Soleil’s Corteo

First performed in Montreal in 2005, Corteo is a festive parade that brings together acting and acrobatics.

Mauro the clown dreams of his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere. He looks back on his experiences and celebrates with his friends from around the world who have come to pay their respects.

The show explores the contrasting emotions and personality of the clown and uses music to create a celebration.

Daniele Finzi Pasca, creative director of Corteo said: “Ultimately, it’s a celebration that tells the story of friendship, of the joys of working together and dreaming together.”

The performance has visited more than 60 cities across 19 different countries and has been an arena show since 2016.

Ticket prices for school groups of ten or more start at £38.50 for children under 12 years and students 13yrs+.
